It believes in a mixed economy where both the state and the private sector play crucial roles in driving economic growth and development.<br /><br />The DP has been an advocate for peace and reconciliation in Uganda, particularly in regions that have been affected by conflict. It promotes dialogue and negotiation as means to resolve conflicts and build a unified nation.<br /><br />Throughout its history, the Democratic Party has faced various challenges, including periods of political repression and the dominance of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) led by President Yoweri Museveni.
