National Resistance Movement Party

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) is a political party in Uganda that has been the dominant force in the country's politics since it came to power in 1986. It emphasizes the importance of socio-economic transformation as a means to achieve prosperity for all, with a focus on poverty eradication, education, and healthcare as key priorities.<br /><br />However, the NRM's tenure has not been without controversy. Its long hold on power, the personalization of the state around Museveni, and allegations of corruption and human rights abuses have been sources of domestic and international criticism. Despite these challenges, the NRM continues to assert its role as the architect of Uganda's recovery from the turmoil of the 1970s and 1980s, and as the guarantor of the country's stability and development.<br /><br />In summary, the National Resistance Movement portrays itself as a party committed to democracy, national unity, pan-Africanism, and socio-economic transformation.
