• The Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) is a political party in Uganda that has played a significant role in the country's political landscape since its formation in the early 1960s. It was founded by Milton Obote, who became its first leader and subsequently the Prime Minister and then the President of Uganda. The UPC emerged as a major political force during the years leading up to Uganda's independence from British colonial rule in 1962.
